Psychotherapy Utrecht

Space to reflect on what you feel and need

You can function perfectly well in daily life while simultaneously noticing that something keeps bothering you. Perhaps you overthink things, or regularly feel tense or dissatisfied. Or you may find that relationships offer you little satisfaction, even though there is nothing immediately unpleasant going on.

In my practice for psychotherapy in Amsterdam There is room not only to look at what goes wrong, but especially to investigate what lies behind recurring feelings and patterns.

Psychotherapy can help you understand yourself better and deal more consciously with what you feel, need, and experience in contact with others.

Psychotherapy if you want to understand what keeps coming back

Do you keep running into the same problems, even though you have already thought about them extensively? Perhaps you notice that certain feelings, reactions, or patterns keep recurring in your relationships, your work, or the way you view yourself.

In my practice for psychotherapy in Utrecht I guide adults who not only want to reduce their symptoms, but also want to better understand why they feel, think, and react the way they do at certain moments.

Psychotherapy can help make recurring patterns visible and explore what you need to change in this regard.

When can psychotherapy be appropriate?

For example, you might consider psychotherapy when you:

  • suffer from anxiety, depression, or tension;
  • difficult to understand or express what you feel;
  • thinks a lot and has difficulty getting in touch with your feelings;
  • notices that the same patterns keep repeating themselves;
  • sets high standards for yourself;
  • have difficulty with closeness, intimacy, or trust;
  • notices that previous experiences still have an influence;
  • want to understand yourself better and want to change.

You do not need to know exactly what the cause of your symptoms is beforehand. We can explore that together during the sessions.

My way of working

My approach is psychodynamic and experiential. We look at what happens in your daily life, but also explore what might lie beneath recurring feelings, thoughts, and reactions.

In doing so, we pay attention to the connection between thinking, feeling, and acting. What you experience during a conversation can also provide valuable information about patterns that occur in other relationships.

The goal is not only to understand why something happens. By recognizing patterns and gaining new experiences, space can also be created to interact with yourself and others differently.

Getting acquainted with psychotherapy in Utrecht

It is important that you feel sufficiently comfortable with a therapist and that their working style suits you. Therefore, you can start with a free, no-obligation orientation session.

During this conversation, you can share what you are struggling with and ask questions about psychotherapy and my approach. Together, we will assess whether further sessions might be appropriate.

The orientation meeting can take place in Utrecht or via video call.
