Therapist Jaap
About me
My name is Jaap Rekvelt, a psychologist. I hold the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (ECP) master's degree, the result of a four-year program. I specialize in client-centered and psychodynamic psychotherapies.
The practice has existed since 2010.
Besides being a therapist, I also practice cushion meditation, Zen Buddhism. When faced with life's questions, knowledge of Buddhism can offer an enriching contrast to our Western perspective.
Vision
The adage "through contact with others, you learn to change yourself" calls for psychotherapy. Good interpersonal contact leads to change and a reduction in complaints.
My style is open-minded and experience-oriented. I believe it's important that we can look at ourselves and our relationships in diverse ways. This paves the way for gaining new experiences and, in turn, gaining the choice to change.
I believe it's important for clients to have freedom of choice regarding the type of therapy and therapist. This helps foster a supportive partnership. Hence the orientation meetings. Simply having an orientation meeting is a step in the right direction.

Do you have a question or complaint about me as a therapist?
First, discuss your question or complaint with your therapist. They may not be aware of your dissatisfaction. In most cases, a conversation is sufficient, and you can resolve the matter together. If that doesn't work, or you're unable to discuss your complaint, you can file a complaint with the complaints committee of the professional association with which your therapist is affiliated. See also the complaints brochure of the Foundation for Complementary and Alternative Healthcare.
